Free solo climbing

Hi! Last week I saw a video mady by The North Face about Alex Honnold who is one of the most legendary free cimbers in the world. Alex Honnold is a thirty three years old American rock climber. In June 2017, Alex Honnold made international news with the first free-solo ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite, on a route rated 5.13a in the Yosemite Decimal System. He is the only one free-soloist who has reached it.

And, in fact, what is free solo climbing? It is a form of free climbing where a climber doesn’t use any protective equipment: neither rope nor harness. On the rock or wall he can rely only on himself and his abilities. For me, it’s one of the most dangerous discipline of sport and I can’t imagine that there are people who really climb on such height without nothing more than their own hands and magnesia!

The video shows how Alex Honnold climb El Sendero Luminoso – a rock at El Potrero Chico en Mexico which rises over 450 m up the front side of El Toro.
